GREENSBURG – On April 17, the Decatur County Community Foundation will host the 2024 Women’s and Girls Fund event. This year’s theme of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” will feature a nationally recognized speaker.

“I am thrilled to announce Karen Laine as the keynote speaker for this year’s Women and Girls Fund event,” Emily Steele, event chair, said. “Karen was the co-host of HGTV’s ‘Good Bones.’ She has a fascinating story and diverse experiences to share with our audience. We’re eager to hear about the projects she’s been involved in and how her expertise in construction and remodeling can inspire us to rebuild our personal lives.”

Annually, the Women and Girls Fund awards grants to support projects affecting women and girls in Decatur County. The fund was started in 2004, and since that time recipients have included groups like New Directions, Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s Mammography Department, the pregnancy care center, and even a scholarship for a local woman returning to school.

At this year’s event, three new grant recipients will be announced.

Proceeds from the 2024 “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” event are invested back into the Women and Girls Fund. Interest off the fund is then used to support next year’s grant projects.

Tickets priced at $30 each or $200 for a table of eight are now available for the April 17 event slated for Heritage Hill Events.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the evening will include a presentation from Laine along with the introduction of this year’s grant recipients. An assortment of breakfast fare will be served.

Along with Steele, the Women and Girls Fund event includes committee members Samantha Baldwin, Shelley Schutte-Cathey, Alyssa Rowles, Sarah Schneider, Bridget Weber and Angie Wood.

This year’s main sponsors include Crystal Lawburgh Photography, Deborah Sellers Catering, Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Delta Faucet, Highpoint Orchard & Wedding Venue, JCBank and Lowe’s Pellets & Grain. Additional sponsors are Decatur County REMC, First Financial Bank, Rouge Bridal Boutique and Schutte Excavating.
